Keeping the shine
for a lifetime

Your keepsake was polished by hand and sealed with a protective finish. With a little gentle care, it will stay bright for decades.

Polished shoes

Dust with a soft, dry microfiber cloth. That's genuinely all it usually needs.
For fingerprints or smudges, breathe on the surface or use a barely damp cloth, then buff dry immediately.
Never use metal polish, abrasive pads, or household cleaners - they can cut through the protective clear coat.
Display away from direct sunlight, radiators, and damp rooms (bathrooms, tack rooms). Steady indoor conditions keep the finish happiest.

Clean frame glass with a glass cleaner sprayed onto a cloth first - never directly at the frame.
Dust wood plaques and frames with a dry cloth; a drop of furniture polish on the wood (not the plate) is fine.
Hang with proper wall anchors - framed keepsakes are heavier than they look.

Engraved plates: wipe gently with a dry cloth. Brass will mellow beautifully with age; leave the patina unless you prefer it bright.
Crystals: dust with a dry, soft brush (a clean makeup brush works well). Avoid liquids, which can wick under the settings.
Horsehair: keep dry and out of direct sun. Do not brush braided hair - a gentle shake of dust is enough. It's as irreplaceable as the shoe.
Ribbons & rosettes: fabric fades in sunlight faster than anything else in the piece - a shaded wall doubles their vivid years.
